Seven structures located along
the north side of East Main Street are believed to be the oldest
original buildings in the Town of Wytheville. Although many changes
have been made over the years, all or part of the houses existed
prior to or during the 1830's.
Leaving behind the hot humid
conditions of their southern hometowns, many persons chose to
"summer" in the naturally cool village of Evansham
(now Wytheville). Several of these buildings served as boarding
houses to accommodate these summer visitors. Woven within these
log structures are stories of mystery and superstition. |
